Summer is the season for enjoying the outdoors, whether it’s kayaking, climbing, running, hiking, or any other activity.

While fun in the sun is good for you, as it boosts your vitamin D levels, it can also lead to cuts and bruises if you’re not careful.

Although our bodies have an effective and rather quick way of healing our own injuries, we can use supplements and plants to help boost our healing processes.

Today, we want to discuss four powerful plants that help you heal bruises and cuts, so that you can continue enjoying the outdoors this summer without having to worry about any injuries.

1. Yarrow

Yarrow is a plant that is quite common in Colorado. It grows underneath trees and in meadows, and you can identify it by its white or yellow flowers (typically) and fern-like leaves.

Yarrow is extremely easy to grow in your own yard, and adds some pretty color.

You can use yarrow in a tea or extract. It has antibacterial and anti-microbial properties, which are good for cleaning your body of any toxins or germs. Yarrow is also taken to help with colds, liver disorders, arthritis, and diarrhea. It has many molecules that make it a powerfully healthy plant for your body.

You can make yarrow tea by buying dried yarrow at the store, or by drying yarrow out yourself after harvesting it by hanging it upside down in a cool dry area.

Immerse 1 tablespoon of dried yarrow in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for approximately 10-15 minutes to get a stronger tea.

You should notice your body healing after drinking yarrow tea since yarrow is one of the best plants for healing bruises.

But please note that you should not take yarrow when you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, some people may be allergic to the plant.

2. Witch-hazel

This plant may sound familiar, as it is in many skincare products. Witch hazel has similar properties to rubbing alcohol and is often used as a rubbing alcohol replacement.

It is considered an astringent, which means that it helps with blood vessels and muscle contraction, slowing down bleeding. This contracting aspect also helps to heal bruises faster, as the skin is firming beneath them.

You can grow witch hazel as a shrub in your own backyard, but a bottle of witch hazel extract is easy and cheap enough to purchase at the store.

Use cotton pads soaked in witch hazel and rub them on your bruises and cuts to help quicken your skin’s recovery.

3. Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is a bit more expensive to obtain, but is extremely helpful in healing and tightening your skin.

Eucalyptus oil or extract has been used previously to help with joint aches and sore muscles, as well as arthritis.

It has antiseptic properties, which makes it great for helping to clean minor cuts on your skin.

You can also drink eucalyptus tea, and grow your own in a pot, but as it is a tropical plant, it may need special care for successful growth.

Apply the eucalyptus oil on your muscles and cuts for quicker recovery.

4. Aloe Vera

This plant is one of the most commonly used for skin healing, and it’s no wonder. The juice inside this succulent’s large leaves contains stem cell properties, encouraging new skin growth, and healing cuts and bruises faster.

Aloe vera has previously been used for sunburns, but it’s also a great plant for healing bruises.

It’s easy enough to grow at home, and when you need to use it, just cut off part of a leaf and squeeze the juice out. You can blend this juice/gel with

other things, such as coconut oil, for a more moisturizing rub, or just use it on its own.

Please note that it will smell, but the effect it has on the skin helps it to heal almost overnight!

Concluding thoughts:

These are just some of the powerful plants that help you heal cuts and bruises. Make sure to be careful when using these plants, as many of them shouldn’t be used by pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.

However, most of these plants are relatively safe and will help you to heal faster. You can use these plants in combination with each other or with other plants for more potent remedies.

It’s important to take care of yourself whenever injuries arise and allow yourself the time and patience to heal properly.
